"The purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls."
Pablo Picasso
Inspired by the coastline, tidal landscapes, and quiet beauty surrounding the Helford River in Cornwall, my work explores the relationship between texture, memory, and place through contemporary mixed media and textile art.
For over ten years I have developed a creative practice rooted in slow, tactile processes and a deep connection to the natural landscape. After selling our family run dental practice in Cornwall, I decided to pursue a long held ambition to follow a creative path, and now continue to develop my work alongside studying for a BA (Hons) in Textiles.
Each piece begins with a response to the landscape — weathered surfaces, shifting light, sea-worn textures, natural markings, and the feeling of being immersed in nature. Using layered textiles, stitch, printmaking, reclaimed materials, natural pigments and experimental processes, I create artworks that invite a sense of calm, stillness, and connection into the home.
I am particularly drawn to the tactile qualities of textiles and often work with reclaimed and unconventional materials, exploring the stories and textures they hold. The slow process of layering, distressing, printing, and stitching allows each artwork to evolve intuitively over time.
Collectors often tell me that my work reminds them of Cornwall — of treasured holidays, coastal walks, sea air, and moments of peace they want to hold onto long after returning home. Creating work that carries this emotional connection is at the heart of my practice.
Alongside original artworks, I also create bespoke commissions inspired by meaningful places, memories, and landscapes. This may include incorporating cherished fabrics or creating a contemporary textile piece inspired by a favourite part of Cornwall.
My work is available as original pieces and selected limited edition fine art prints from the Whispers of the Shore collection.
Recent exhibitions include ORIGINS at Salthouse Gallery, St Ives through Contemporary Craftworks and participation in Cornwall Open Studios 2026.
