Handmade Art in Cornwall: Slow Process, Contemporary Expression
Handmade art in Cornwall has long been shaped by the landscape — its light, coastline, and strong tradition of making. My practice continues this connection through contemporary mixed media and textile work created in response to the natural environment.
Based near the Helford River, I work slowly and intuitively, using layered textiles, stitch, printmaking, and reclaimed materials to build surfaces that reflect the textures of the Cornish landscape.
Each piece is handmade, meaning no two works are ever the same. The process is central — allowing time for materials to respond and evolve naturally within the work.
This approach creates artwork that feels grounded, tactile, and connected to place — bringing the essence of Cornwall into modern homes.
